The Chords.me PDF Generator is a free, browser-based tool that converts your chord sheet text directly into a downloadable PDF — no server, no account, no waiting. Everything runs locally in your browser using pdfmake, which means your lyrics and chords never leave your device.
Paste your chord sheet into the editor — whether it's a simple chord-over-lyric layout or a ChordPro document — and the tool automatically detects chord lines, section labels like Verse and Chorus, and lyric lines. Short songs are typeset in a clean single column. For longer songs the generator detects that content would overflow a single A4 page and automatically switches to a balanced two-column layout, so you always get a tidy one-page printout.
Every PDF is rendered with real, selectable text — not a screenshot or canvas capture. That means you can copy chords directly from the PDF, and the file is fully searchable. Choose from three print themes, add key, BPM, and time signature metadata, and hit Download PDF for an instant direct download.
Even in an age of tablets and phones, paper chord sheets remain the most reliable tool on stage and in rehearsal. Screens dim, battery dies, and tablet stands take up space on a crowded music stand. A well-formatted printed chord sheet is waterproof, glare-free, and zero latency.
More importantly, a good lead sheet or chord sheet communicates everything a musician needs at a glance: the key, the tempo, the time signature, and the chord changes aligned directly above the syllables where they fall. Poorly formatted chord sheets — misaligned chords, missing section markers, tiny fonts — cause mistakes. A clean PDF from a dedicated generator eliminates those problems before you even walk into the room.
The generator accepts standard chord-over-lyric notation — the format you'll find on most guitar tab websites — as well as ChordPro-style input. Chord names including sharps, flats, extensions (maj7, m9, sus4, dim, aug, 7b5), and slash chords (C/E, G/B) are all recognised. Section labels such as [Verse] , (Chorus) , and Bridge: are automatically styled as section headers in the PDF. Blank lines are preserved to create natural visual breathing room between sections.
The tool works for guitar, ukulele, and piano chord sheets alike — any instrument that uses letter-name chord symbols. If you need to change the key first, use the Chord Transposer or the Capo Calculator before generating the PDF.
For the best results, print on standard 80 gsm A4 paper at 100% scale (no "fit to page" scaling). All three themes are designed to print beautifully in both colour and greyscale — including the Stage theme's red chords, which convert to a distinct dark grey in black-and-white printing for easy differentiation from lyric lines.
If you're creating sheets for a full band or choir, the Band Rehearsal and Performance templates include the BPM and time signature fields prominently at the top so every player is immediately oriented. Fill in the Prepared by field to add a name to the footer — useful when distributing sheets at rehearsal so musicians know who to contact with questions.
For worship leaders printing multiple songs per service, the two-column auto-layout means longer songs still fit on a single side, reducing the number of pages in your music folder. Use the Church Worship template for wide, readable spacing and a clean monochrome aesthetic compatible with any copier.
ChordPro is a plain-text format for chord sheets where chord names appear inline within the lyric line inside square brackets — for example: [G]Today is gonna be the [D]day. The Chords.me generator recognises this format and parses it alongside the more common chord-above-lyric notation. Whether you're exporting from a ChordPro app, copying from a lyrics site, or writing from scratch, paste it in and the PDF will be correctly structured.
